The Pitons are two mountains, Gros Piton and Petite Piton.
Among St. Lucia's natural wonders, the Pitons in Soufriere are the most remarkable.
Jutting straight from the sea, these twin volcanic cones were once treated as gods by the Arawak Indians.
The vegetation covered slopes of the taller, but less severe Gros Piton has a trail to the summit, accessed through the village of Fond Gens Libre.
The trail is well defined and is suitable for those of average fitness.
We leave Natures Paradise at 7 am sharp and head out on the winding seacoast road, past Anse Le Ray, Canares and Soufriere.
To the top of Gros Piton takes about 1.5 hrs.
You can do it and its worth the effort.
Wait until you get to the top.
What a view!
A dip in a warm out-door mineral bath will rejuvenate you.
Lunch with a view, will put this day over the top.
You will never forget it.
This tour is $95/person and includes the St. Lucia $25 Pitons Environmental Fee.
It does not include lunch.
